There are a several restaurants, bistros and bars in the area.

Our best recommendation is Le Bouton d'Or in Saint Romain. The restaurant is open for lunch six days a week – Tuesday to Sunday – and from Tuesday to Saturday offers a set 5 course meal inclusive of cider or wine for 14 euros. (On Sundays there is a more elaborate and expensive menu available.)

The menu changes every day and we were told that all ingredients are fresh – nothing frozen - so the menu depends entirely upon what is currently available.

In Civray there is the Hotel de Comerce and three others as well as two Pizza restaurants.

Bistro bars - Le Cafe de la Paix next to the church on the main square, several others around the town, and also in the local villages of Vouleme and Lizant.

Ruffec also has a choice with three good bistro bars on the main square and the a restaurant on the side square.

A bit further afield are two superb restaurants almost Michelin standard but with better prices (and more to eat).

For something different, try the transport 'cafe' at Maison Blanche. Yes!, its also a very interesting restaurant.

There is a folder in the gîte giving details of many more and we are happy to advise on types of food and prices.
