The gîte is situated about 50 minutes south of Poitiers in the center of the quiet village of St Gaudent (see map at foot of page). In the picture of the village below, follow the road round to the right, past the church and we are the 2nd entrance on the right, with the blue gates and the courtyard. You can see the front of the house and gîte on Google earth street view.

From the UK, access can be by car from any of the ports on the north French coast, (Eurotunnel or Ferry). Calais being the most popular, 6.5 hours without stops, motorway nearly all the way - we suggest Calais, Rouen, Le Mans, Tours and Poitiers. Buy your fuel in one of the supermarkets in Calais or in CityEurope. From the west of the UK, you can cross from Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries.

Flights can be into Poitiers (1 hour to the gîte), Limoges (1.25 hours) Bordeaux or La Rochelle (2 hours). Mostly Ryanair but also easyJet or British Airways (use your browsers back button to return to this page).

By train via TGV (and Eurostar) to Poitiers. You can book the whole journey through the TGV site but go via Lille as it avoids a cross Paris connection of trains. Lille has two stations, Lille Europe - you can change trains within the same station; and Lille Flanders - a short walk across a plaza to change trains.

Car hire can be arranged in advance at the airports and at the station. Car hire is also available locally to the gîte if you need extra transport when you are here.

A car is recommended to be able to explore the area.
